Concert 1    Fri. June 29:   Hesperus

HESPERUS, the irrepressible crossover ensemble, presents “The Wild Kingdom”, a program for young & old alike.  It is based on a Renaissance book of animal tales and acted by a mime against a full panoply of historic instruments. This is a concert for the whole family, with Chaplinesque comedy for the children, thought-provoking imagery for the adults & joyful music for all.

Washington Post: "Engaging stage presence, backed by programs put together with exceptional imagination....irrestible"

Concert 2    Sun. July 1:  Boston Camerata

BOSTON CAMERATA presents “The Original Carmina Burana” . Realized from the famous 13th century Benediktbeuren manuscript,  this is a compendium of secular medieval Latin poetry about Fate’s ruthless predictability, the turmoil & tribulations of love,  and the sensuality of springtime. The basis for Carl Orff’s famous cantata, the original has greater poetic elegance & just as much lasciviousness & amusing vulgarity.

Le Monde, Paris: "America's foremost early music ensemble".

Concert 3    Fri.   July 6 : Musicians of the Old Post Road

MUSICIANS OF THE OLD POST ROAD with mezzo soprano PAMELA DELLAL present “Bach & His Virtuosi”.   This program is a showcase of  spirited vocal & instrumental music by outstanding virtuosi in Bach’s milieu: an elegant trio sonata by G. G. Buffardin, a moving cantata by J. A. Hasse, a dazzling violin sonata by J. G. Pisendel, a pipingly sweet flute concerto by J. D. Heinichen, and J. S. Bach's powerful Harpsichord Concerto in D Minor.

BBC Music Magazine: "Scintillating performances of sentiment and sparkle".

Concert 4    Sun.   July 8 :  Voice of the Turtle

VOICE OF THE TURTLE in “Roots & Shoots, a Juxtaposition of Jewish, Arab and Christian Music From Medieval Spain”. This program will include repertoire whose genesis derives from Judeo-Spanish, Arab-Andalusian, and medieval Christian traditions, interwoven to form an aural 'vision' of a remarkable era. The concert reflects the co-existence of three cultures that combined to create one of the most intriguing eras in history -- perhaps the most relevant and resonant in terms of 21st century inter-cultural perspectives.

London Jewish Chronicle: "The four musicians tooted, blew, plucked and the capacity audience clapped, whistled and sang....the normally austere atmosphere of the Purcell Room of the Royal Festival Hall echoed to the applause".

Concert 5    Fri.   July 13 :   Ensemble Caprice

ENSEMBLE CAPRICE  with recorder virtuoso MATTHIAS MAUTE in “From Heaven & Hell”.    Dazzling instrumental music of heavenly sounds and diabolic frictions by Falconiero, Ortiz and Schmelzer reflect the 17th century domination of  heaven and hell in people's daily lives, inspiring musicians to compose some of the most extravagantly exciting, difficult-to-perform instrumental music of all time.

The Boston Globe: "Matthias Maute played with crackling vitality and whizzing velocity".

Concert 6    Sun.   July 15 :   Ensemble Caprice

ENSEMBLE CAPRICE  with recorder virtuoso MATTHIAS MAUTE in “Sturm und Drang - Storm of  Passions”. This program  offers a bouquet of fragrant works each of which, in its own manner, explores the intensity of this era’s wild music, both vocally and instrumentally. Works by C.P.E. Bach, W.F. Bach, F.I. Beck and opera arias by G.F. Handel, F. Cavalli and J.D. Zelenka are included.

Klassik Heute: "....a true world of expressive gestures, colours and delicate ornaments".
